Lesson 26: Sunset Brayer Technique

In this lesson, learn how to make this Sunset using ink and a brayer!Supplies Needed:
*Brayer (can be purchased in the stamping isle of any craft store)
*Sunset colored inks -I used a yellow, pink, orange, and purple (Stampin’ UP’s New In Colors used here: Rich Razzleberry, Dusty Durango, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry)
*Whisper White cardstock cut to size (my square is approx 3.5inches square)
*Cotton balls
*Black ink
*Tree stamp (Stampin’ UP’s Lovely as a Tree stamp set used here)Important!! I am using 4 colors (from the bottom) yellow, pink, orange, and purple. I will be refering to them in the guide by their order:
yellow -1st color
pink – 2nd color
orange – 3rd color
purple -4th color
I am doing the number order in case you are using different colors than I chose :O)

1. Using a clean brayer, run the left half of the brayer over the 1st color (yellow) a few times. This should be your lightest color so that you don’t mix darker ink into a lighter ink pad.

2. Run the other half of the brayer into the 3rd color (orange).

3. Roll the brayer over the white cardstock. Try to roll with even pressure (as you can see, I didn’t, but errors will be covered up, just wait!).

4. Using the cotton balls, sponge the 2nd color (pink) and 4th color (purple). When sponging, it helps if you rotate the cotton ball so that the sponging marks don’t look identical.

5. Stamp the tree image with black ink and you are done!!
