Taking a break

So I have some more news about my dog Skyeler. It is not good. The results came back from her lung cultures and she has pseudomonas aeruginosa infecting her lungs and sinus cavity. This is often times deadly when it infects major organs in the body. People can get this too, and it can be deadly in people too. This microbe is one that is resistant to a lot of antibiotics so it is a super bug.

The lab working on Skyeler’s case is still working with the culture to hopefully find a cure for her. We will know in the next few days what the treatment options are.

I never thought this would be as serious as it has become and I am completely at a loss for what to say and do. I am going to do be a little sporadic with my blogging for a little while because I am trying to spend more time with her. I just wanted to let y’all know what was going on in case I miss a post or two. I also have an exam this week and a presentation to get ready for, and you know college stuff comes before blogging. 🙁

To my Winners: I will get your goodies mailed out as soon as I can. They will all be on the way shortly! I have another giveaway I hope to get posted very soon.

I am still crafting because that is my stress relief. I also have some stuff in the works so stay tuned.

Skyeler is the one on the left, Mya is in the center and I am on the right:

I have also stepped down from some of my design team commitments.

  1. Samantha, I am so sorry! I can only imagine how you are feeling, but I’m sure helpless is one of those feelings. All you can do is love her and spend as much time with her as you can. That will make her feel so much better! Take care.

  2. So sorry to hear about Skyeler…hope the lab finds a cure quickly and that she makes a speedy recovery. Sending positive thoughts and hugs your way.

P.S. Good luck with your exam and presentation.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear how ill Skyeler is and I hope everything works out and that Skyeler gets better. I also am hoping that the other dogs will stay healthy. You take care of yourself and your family. Don’t worry about us; we’ll still be here. Keep us posted on how things are going. I wish you well with your studies and school commitments, as well.

  4. OMG Samantha, I’m so very sorry for you and your family not to mention Skyeler. It’s never easy when our pets are so sick. My son’s black lab Zorro started having seizures at the age of 1 1/2. I finally was referred to the Michigan Vet Specialists and he is under the care of Dr. Shull, a neurologist. His last cluster of seizures in February lasted 6 days 19 seizures. She put him on zonisamide & liquid potassium bromide.
So I guess my point is to keep trying until you find what works that’s out there waiting for you.

    Much hugs,
    Gina

  5. So very sorry to hear about Skyeler.
I am adding you both to my prayer list. Praying he will be well soon. I’ll be checking back for up dates but understand you devoting your time to him and your schooling.
    Blessings
    Bernie

  6. I had a dog that was in the last stage of a viral. The vet told my mom not to cling. But everyone was astounded because it survived. Be strong, Sam.

Ah, you’re right on the photo? I almost did not know. kkkkkkkkkkk

    Hugs

  7. i appresciate the care and concern you have for your animals and i wish the best outcome for all! good luck with your exam and try to stay focussed for it. my thoughts are with you!

  8. Deep hugs to you Samantha…I am hoping and praying for a cure and speedy recovery for your Skyeler. Don’t you worry about taking a break – we will all be here for you when you get back. You take care of you and yours. Luv and hugs!!

  9. So sorry to hear about your dog. Our pets can quickly become part of the family and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hopefully the doctors will be able to find a cure for your dog.

  10. I hope everything works out. This is a big reason I can never get a dog (I’ve wanted one my whole life!). The fact that they live such short lives compared to humans is so sad (and i’m probably making things worse lol). You’re definately a much stronger person than me! Hang in there Skyeler!!!

  11. Dear Samantha,

I will keep you and your precious doggie in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sure the lab and vets will be able to find the right antibiotic cocktail to conquer the superbug and get her well again.

Skyeler looks just like my dog Nikki when I was a kid. Aren’t Huskies the best?

    Courtney

  12. I’m so sorry to hear about your furbaby. I will keep Skyeler in my thoughts and prayers. My furbabies are my kids too and are a huge part of my family (((HUGS)))

  13. Oh, dear Samantha! I am so sorry for what all of you are going through. I do hope that Skyeler will be okay. She most certainly must know how very much she is loved, and you know that you are doing all that you can. I know that doesn’t make this easier for you, but it is all that you have to give her. And she is a lucky dog to have you.

  14. Oh no! It’s always sad when a member of the family becomes so ill (yes I think of my dog as my son lol). I hope the lab can figure something out to help! You guys are in my thoughts, best wishes….

    Allison

  15. So sorry to hear about Skyeler!! I almost lost my poochie last year due to an infection….it just about broke my heart to think that I wouldn’t have her abound anymore. I hope that Skyeler makes a full and speedy recovery. I will miss your posts, but I totally understand why you are taking a little break.

    Hugs,
    Amy ♥

  16. Oh no! I am SO, SO sorry! That’s awful! I can’t speak for everyone, but I think anyone who has come to ‘know you’ through your blog, etc., would totally understand the need for a break. We aren’t going anywhere! *hugs*

  17. Samantha,
I hope the lab comes up with something that will work for your beloved doggy.
Your fans will keep the fires burning and save your spot for you when you can come back. We are thinking of you and hoping the best for you and Skyeler!!
