Hello all!!

So I want to discuss something that has been on my mind for a while. . . I have always felt that honesty was one of my better qualities and I like to be completely honest with you as my lovely readers. As much as I absolutely LOVE Stampin’ UP products, I have decided to take a step back from the “selling” side of my demoship, effective immediately. I am really going to start concentrating on my SP University and more towards designing rather than strictly Stampin’ UP.

For now, I am still going to be offering Stampin’ UP ordering through my Stampin’ UP website and I will still be available as always to answer any questions you have. I will even still be offering my monthly SP Card kits and an occasional product share. BUT some things are going to be changing and more changes will be coming for the remainder of the year. I am going to discontinue the SP Ribbon Kits and the SP Scrapbook kits and I am going to be sharing more non-Stampin’ UP product than I am used to showing. I actually have quite a bit of products and supplies from other manufacturers that I love and I plan on using them more also.

I will still be offering my free stamp set of the month for now.

I still plan on remaining a daily blogger and will continue posting for you!

Basically, things are really going to be much of the same, but the atmosphere is going to be a little different, not so much geared towards SU products and more geared towards techniques and learning.

By the end of the year, I am going to be stepping down from my demoship altogether. Don’t worry, I will still be using Stampin’ UP products and I will definitely give you info about other great demonstrators you can purchase from. :O)

So where are these changes coming from you ask? There are quite a few reasons, some of which I will tell you about below!

Well, for one thing, I have this intense urge to pursue being published in print! I have never before attempted this, but I am planning to start pursuing this TODAY! Some of my buddies know that one of my goals for this year is to get published in print and as of yet, I haven’t even submitted anything for publication! LOL So I am going to be concentrating some of my efforts on that task.

Second, as I announced in my “Meet the REAL Sami” post a week-ish ago, I have been thinking a lot about where my life is headed in general and where I would like to end up in the Scrapbooking world. I want to be knows as Samantha, the designer, or Samantha, the scrappy teacher,. . . NOT Samantha, the Stampin’ UP demonstrator. I don’t want that to be my scrappy “legacy”. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my Stampin’ UP products and Stampin’ UP has been very good to me in so many ways. I just would rather be in design rather than in sales. Since I am going to be going into the design aspect of things, I will be unable to keep my demoship anyway, so I might as well say goodbye before it becomes an issue!

And thirdly, I have to just face the facts: I am a SHOP-A-HOLIC and I love all things scrappy!! HA HA HA! I was perfectly happy being a demonstrator and using any and all products I had and being able to talk about them all freely. Well, it has been about a year since Stampin’ UP changed the IDA (the agreement that all demonstrators have to sign) saying that we will not promote competitive products online. So for a year now I have felt stifled and uneasy with sharing my love for the other products that I love. For a year, I have been kept from applying for design teams for competitive companies. Those things have just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t like to be told what I can and cannot mention and I definitely don’t like being kept back from other opportunities. Nonetheless, I decided to follow the rules and try to go with the flow and it is simply not leaving me fully fulfilled on my scrappy endeavors. I feel like my demoship is holding me back and I want MORE!!

Lastly, I have something super huge and exciting planned up my sleeve and you will NOT even see this coming!! I even surprised myself with this one!!! You will not want to miss what’s coming! Something really really fun and exciting is going to be coming to SP and I cannot wait to break into the next wonderful stage to my scrappy life and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Now that I have written you a little novel, I have a scrappy project for you. This project was started at CHA but I just finished up the rest of it last week.  These are little canvases to go on the wall in my Scrap Dining Room. SP for Scrapmaster’s Paradise!  The flourishes were made from stencils and black acrylic paints. The letters were cut from Melon Mambo Cardstock using the Cricut Don Juan cartridge. I sealed each canvas with Mod Podge.

  1. I get it! This is the reason I haven’t become a demo. I love having the whole world of crafting open to me and if an opportunity comes along I’ll be able to take it instead of worrying about a contract and commitment to SU. It’s funny how things work themselves out.

  2. Hey girlie…your post here is exactly how I’ve been feeling for a while now too – I want to apply for design teams and stuff too, but can’t. I have been having thoughts of quitting also, but I am not quite at that step yet – I’m thinking heavily about it though. I *know* you will do absolutely wonderfully with your new ventures….and I’m excited to see what changes you have coming for us! 🙂

  3. Good for you Samantha! Life is short and we should do what we want to when we want to. I would not be happy having someone else call the shots. I totally understand the changes you are making and wish you luck with all that you do.

  4. Sami I know what you mean!!! It seems a lot of people went your path. I love SU too and have thought about being a demonstrator but I can not commit to one product. I love them all! I just retired from teaching and would love to teach. I taught first grade. I would love to tech card making. I am not sure how I want to start it all. I am thinking about contacting a local community center and see if they would like me to do some classes.
I am really looking forward to see what you have coming. Good Luck and my very Best Wishes.

  5. So many exciting changes for you! I’m sure you will have no problem getting published!! I also love those canvases…super cute and great color combo!

Best wishes on following your dreams!

  6. I am soooo excited about your latest news! You are a super-saleswoman, but you are so much more! And don’t be afraid to check out our wonderful TAC products. We have the cutest stakps that are so much fun to color with Copics! There is a link on my blog and I’d be happy to send you a catty!

  7. I wish you luck with any adventure you take. I felt the same way about SU and their rules and that is why I was not heart broken when they made me “resign”. I felt a bit freeing and so happy to be able to pursue all things paper craft with my online store. I hope you do great things and I can’t wait to hear your good news.

  8. Good for you. Even I’ve had problems with SU’s limitation on their demonstrators and I’m not one! I can imagine feeling constricted by that rule!
Can’t wait hear how you’re doing in getting published and to see what your big surprise is!

  9. Always keeping us on our toes, Sam! Good luck with all of you new endeavors! 🙂

Oh and I did read your post about going to school for graphic design, and let me tell you that’s the best decision I’ve ever made about my college career! I have a B.A. in Graphic Design and I absolutely LOVE my design job now! Soooo many opportunities in this tech-savy world now! Enjoy and Good Luck with school! 🙂

  10. I feel like I can maybe admit this now. Since I just moved to Ohio where SU is big…I’ve been trying to find a SU Demo to go to. (I’ve been actually in Ohio a whole 10 days now!) But since you aren’t here for me to meet up with, I was going to have to go to a different demonstrator. I kind of felt like I was planning to cheat on a friend. 😛 Now, I may not feel as bad…but if I order anything, it’ll probably still be from you! 😀
