50 Days of Christmas: Day 19: Sad Gingerbread Man

Good evening, everyone!

Don’t forget that I posted this weeks SP Color Combo challenge earlier today. This one is SP Color Combo Challenge #75.

Also don’t forget to stop by tomorrow morning because the Kickin’ Off Christmas blog hop starts! This is going to be a really fun one. I am the caboose in the hop so I will make sure to link you back up to the beginning of the hop because you are going to want to go all the way through it.

If you have never been on a blog hop before, it is simple! You start at a specific blog and “hop” your way from one blog to the next, in a particular order. Each blog will tell you where to go next on your journey.

You never know what you are going to find along the way. Amy Chomas and I are co-hosting this blog hop and some AMAZING designers have some stellar projects to share with you just in time  for those Christmas projects. Not only that, we’ve got PRIZES AND SALES along the way! What could be better than prizes, inspiring projects, and shopping, all rolled into one!? I am excited too :O)

Tonight, I have a project for Day 19 of the SP 50 Days of Christmas. I want to share with you. . . the sad gingerbread man! Oh yeah, he is super sad!

I guess I would be angry too if someone bit my leg off! LOL I designed the angry and sad faces in the Cutest Gingerbread Man Stamp set with just this purpose in mind. The sentiment and the gingerbread man are both from this stamp set.

The gingerbread man was stamped onto Pretty in Pink cardstock using Soft Suede Classic Ink (both from stampin’ UP. For little buttons, I added some Adhesive Pearls (also from Stampin’ UP).

To color the icing and the parts on the face, I used some Copics I got from the iCopic store. I used G21 and R29. Yes, I colored directly on the pink cardstock!

The colors showed really well still, because this pink cardstock is a pretty light color. Alcohol based markers are not made to color over darker colored papers, but if you use a light color, you will be able to see the ink colors relatively clearly (the darker the paper, the less of the ink color you will see!).

I am not so sure about the colors I used for this one. I tried to use SPCC#75 for it, but then I added too much pink and it didn’t turn out as close to the color combo as I would have liked.

For the card background, I used some paper made by BasicGrey from the Eskimo Kisses 6X6 Paper Pad. For the card base, I used Stampin’ UP Tempting Turquoise cardstock.

The ribbon is from Stampin’ UP. It is a retired ribbon which is available in my online store here: Mistletoe Ribbon #2 Whisper White stitched 1 yd.

Well, I shall be back tomorrow with some great blog hop stuff for ya! See ya then!
