Hi there!! Happy Tuesday!! I am really excited to tell you. . . we are now in full force with the moving! My hubby and I have gotten our first place (a condo, but we’ve been living with my mom) and are set to move in about 3 weeks. Our lives have been utter chaos trying to call and sort all of our stuff and start to pack as much as we can. Because of moving madness, the SP and Company store will be closed the entire week of July 3rd-July 9th (the week we move) so if you plan on making purchase, please do so before then to avoid delays. I will resume shipping out orders on Monday, July 11th.
Let’s move on *yes, pun intended* to the fun stuff for today!!
Tuesday means TWO fun things around here! First, today is the beginning of another fun challenge over at Use it Tuesday! This week, Siobhan and I are challenging you to use some of your neglected die cuts or punches. You know you have them so pull them out and USE IT!! Click here to see what the beautiful designers made for this week and to play along.
And Tuesday also means. . . Tuesday Tips and Tricks over at the iCopic Blog!! This week my little lesson was on adding finishing touches to your colored images. I think finishing touches are really important for any project, and they give your project a more professional and polished look to them. Sometimes those finishing touches belong on your colored image itself so that is what I am here to talk about today.
I want to give you a couple of tips to help you glam up your images and give your images those finishing touches.
Coloring images with Copics is such a beautiful technique, but there are some ways that you can make those images have that extra something. I am going to show you a few of the little things I added to my card for today. I think it just gives my card a more polished look.
And my project for today also works for this week’s iCopic challenge, using only Brown Copics! To play along, click here!
TIP #1: Bring on the glitter!
One of the easiest ways to add glitter to your project is to accent your project with the At You Spica Glitter Pen. The neat thing is that the Spica glitter pens come in a variety of colors to coordinate with your Copic coloring AND there is also a clear Spica glitter pen that you can use over anything!
Below, you can see I added some glitter to my image, The Greeting Farm’s Mermaid Anya. I used the Brown Spica glitter pen along her eyelids, and tail.
TIP #2: Embellish!
Little embellishments, like brads, rhinestones, or pearls can add a nice little 3d effect on your project giving you some dimension. I added some cute little adhesive pearls to her hair. These pearls were originally white, but I colored them with my Copic E44 so they would match my image.
Other Card Details:
- The image was colored in with the following Copic colors: E70, E71, E74, E77, and E79.
- I airbrushed the background with BG42 to create a water type background.
- The sentiment was stamped from the SP and Company Lovely Labels stamp set.
- I made a cute little banner for my sentiment by trimming a little triangle off the end of a strip of cardstock (Hawaiian Shores from Papertrey Ink).
- I created a frame around my image with Washi Tape, this is one of my favorite new techniques! You can watch my video tutorial for this technique by clicking here.
- The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Marjolane 6X6 paper pack.
- The card base is Close to Cocoa cardstock (retired from Stampin’ UP).
Well, folks, that is all I have for you. I will be back tomorrow for Design Team Wednesday and the team will be sharing some more amazing projects with you. Have a wonderful day!!
