Happy Everything Card

Hi everyone!! Today I have something a little different to share with you.

I went outside my comfort zone a bit.  This is what I would call my attempt at super vintage 🙂 It is still pretty clean as far as the lines go, but there are a lot of vintage style elements otherwise.

I used patterned papers and this cute post element from the This & That Charming collection, which is part of the February SP Monthly Kit. The Feb kit is sold out, but March sign-ups are going on now! Don’t wait! I don’t have many spots left.

The papers already have a lovely vintage feel to them, but I wanted to add a little bit more distressing so I inked the edges of all the papers using the Tim Holtz Ink Applicator and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

The butterflies are just totally awesome! I was really thrilled with how they turned out. I first stamped them (this is a Unity stamp). Then I colored them with Copics.

Next I trimmed them out, curled up the wings, and then coated the whole images with Rock Candy Crackle Paint. Now this stuff is AWESOME! It dries to a shiny clear crackle finish! Love it!! Here is a close up so you can sort of see the awesomeness:

I used the coordinating Bold Sentiments I SVG cut file to trim out the sentiment piece. I had actually cut this out from white cardstock before I decided on my project colors, so I just inked over it with a matching ink (Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink) so that it would blend in with my project better.

The Bold Sentiments I stamp set is SOLD OUT, but it is currently on re-order so should be available in the next couple of weeks! YAY! I know so many of you have asked about this set. It is coming!!

With the sentiment “Happy Everything”, this card could be a just because card or a birthday card, even just a little pick-me-up card.

I used some satin ribbon from Papertrey Ink on this card too.

I took over the SP Stamps Blog today, so head there now to see another one of my projects 🙂

  1. Your card is awesome! I love the butterflies with their crackle finish.
I resisted distressing and antiquing for a long time but once I tried it I was hooked! It’s fun to distress something…once you get over the initial dread…and see what happens. Nothing is ever exactly the same twice and it’s about as close to creating unique art as I will ever get! lol
    Have fun! 🙂
