Preview Day 3: Happy V-Day Emma Card

Hi everyone! Thank you for being so patient with me today! I have been in overdrive trying to get orders out and emails answered that I didn’t have the time to give this post what it deserved. But now I do so let’s get started.

Today’s preview is of another great AppleDapples collection stamp set & this Emma is totally darling!

Meet the new In Love Emma! The In Love Emma stamp set is a full 4X6 set with some adorable accessories and sentiments so you will be sure to fall “in love” with her too 😉  And you see that banner? That is from the set I showed you on Monday called Hello, World! Baby Announcement Builders.

In Love Emma will be a part of our November SP Monthly kit & new sign ups are going on now! Just click on the Kit Club tab at the top of the blog for more kit club info. PLEASE NOTE: Because of the high volume of new kit members this month, we are completely sold out of the 6×6 option for November already. New 6×6 Stamping Kit members will start their subscription with our December monthly kit.

The banner stamp is actually from the Hello, World stamp set, but the sentiment inside is from the In Love Emma stamp set. This sentiment fit inside the banner beautifully! I love how easily my stamps sets can really coordinate together like that. Perfect harmony!!

I love this Emma girl because her hands are positioned so that she can hold all these cute little gifts and accessories that come with this set, like the present I used on this card. I just stamped the present on a separate piece of paper, colored it, then cut it out & glued it on the Emma image. It totally looks like she is holding it!! Sooooo cute!  You will be able to see the entire stamp set during our stamp release on November 10th & In Love Emma will be available for purchase that day!!

The banner was stamped onto Fountain colored cardstock from American crafts & I stamped the sentiment and the banner in Memento Black. Well, the cardstock is a textured cardstock, so the banner shape didn’t stamp perfectly. I used my Copic multiliner to color in a little bit of the edge along the banner. If you look closely, you may be able to see part of the banner that looks a little darker than the rest!

I first cut out a circle shape to fit on my card and then stamped this cute little Emma on the circle shape. Then I colored her in.

I used the following Copic Colors for this Emma girl:

  • For the hair: E27, E29, E77
  • For the skin: E000, E00, E21, E02
  • For the dress: BV0000, BV01
  • For the present: BG53, BG57

After the image was colored in, I thought the circle was just missing “something” so I decided to add a scallop edge.  I created this scallop edge with a straight scallop edge border punch! Seriously!! This was once a 12inch strip of patterned paper! Here’s my little tutorial.

How to create a scallop circle out of a scallop edge strip of paper:
1.  Cut a trip of paper 12inches (or shorter depending on the size of your circle).
2. Punch the edge of the strip with your border punch.
3. On the side of your paper strip that is not scalloped, cut small lines into the paper.
4. Add LOTS of tape runner adhesive to the edge of the back of your plain circle shape.
5. Start slowly lining up the scallop edge with your circle shape. You may have to cut some of your slices a bit longer through your paper to get it to line up correctly.
6. When you’ve gone all the way around the circle with your scallops, just cut off the excess scallop strip that is left over.

Here is a look at the back of my circle piece so you can see what the cut strip looks like once everything is all layered together:

If you look closely, you can see the scallop layer is a little bit wavy. I think it adds some texture to the card.

All of the patterned paper I used for this card came from the October SP Monthly Kit, which included the Winter Wishes collection kit from Echo Park.

I added some enamel dots to the edge of the card. They actually matched a whole lot better in real life, but in the photos they look kind of green. They are actually tealy colored. These Enamel Dots are one of my FAVORITE new embellishments! They remind me of candy dots (the food). I just think they are really cute! These ones came from the pack from My Mind’s Eye named The Sweetest Thing Reasons Why.

Here’s another look at my card:

That is all I’ve got for you today, folks!  Make sure to check out the MarkerPop Lawn Fawn blog hop I am participating in because the projects will blow you away AND there are prizes.

Have a great day everyone!! See you back here tomorrow for Preview Day 4!

  1. All this make me want to subscribe but unfortunately I never have much time to be able to use anything 🙂 so I’ll just buy stuff as I go I guess …
    Nice card !!!

  2. Lovely Emma! Clever way to make a scallop circle from a strip. Wondering if it wouldn’t work to punch out a bunch of small circles and adhere those to the back of your circle to form the scallop edge ~ will have to try that. I have Circle & Scallop Nesties so I take the easy way out. : )

    1. Yes I have done the tiny circle way before too 😉 It works! There are plenty of scallop circles on some cartridges I have to go with my Cricut, but I had already put it away and there was no way I was digging it back out so I tried something new for me.
