Pool Party Layout

Hey everyone!

My layout today was pretty involved, but I like the way it came out. These photos were actually taken at my 7th birthday party. My mom has bunches of photo albums put together from my childhood, but there was a little box of duplicates so I have those in my photo stash.

The April monthly kit is perfect for all sorts of summer photos. I pulled out all my summer themed photos and so I wanted to scrap these.

In the main photo, that girl sitting on the side of the pool is me! I actually got an ear infection or something a few days before my party so I wasn’t actually able to swim! I know! At my own party! lol. Oh well, I actually don’t remember it, my mom just told me later.

Speaking of memories, one of my earliest CLEAR memories was actually around this time. I was seven and my first clear memory is of the day we adopted my dog Taylor. It was actually spring of 1995. (She passed away a few years ago, but you can still see her on my blog sidebar!). We found an ad in the newspaper about free puppies and I remember my mom asking me if I wanted a dog. Then I remember being at the owner’s house and seeing Taylor and her brother jumping up at me inside of a cardboard box. I chose Taylor. 🙂

Anyway, that’s not really why I am here chatting with you today. I am chatting with you because of this layout I have to share!! LOL

I did something a bit different on this layout. I die cut my photos into shapes. I am still not very sure if I like the shaped photos or not. What do you think? Are you a fan of shaped photos?  It kind of reminds me of the earlier scrapping days when shaped photos were trendy.

These photos were cut with the Artsy Heartsy Nesting Hearts die set. Our dies are open in the center so it was super easy to cut out the photos exactly how I wanted them.  I matted each photo onto some orange cardstock that I had cut with the coordinating scallop heart.

All of the patterned papers and most of the elements are from the April SP monthly kit, which included the A Perfect Summer collection kit.

The “Pool” letters and banners were stamped from the Big Build a Banner 1 stamp set (which was included in the March SP Kit). I cut them out using the Big Build a Banner 1 die tools set.

The letters were stamped in Clown Fish Premium Chalk Ink. The banners were stamped in the Aqua SeaGlass Premium Chalk ink.

The “Party” letters are alpha stickers from the collection kit. I just stuck them to some vanilla cardstock and cut it into a banner shape.

The button border was created by alternating Clown Fish and Aqua SeaGlass buttons.

The line of clothes is a layered sticker from the same collection.

The decorative brads are also a part of the A Perfect Summer collection.

Here are some closer looks at everything:

All in all, I really enjoy the A Perfect Summer collection. It just works for so many photos I have left to scrap.

Have a great day & see you again soon!
