The Sunday Scoop 5/5/13

Hey everyone! I have another Sunday Scoop for you today! Also, HAPPY Cinco De Mayo! Are you going to do something special for the occasion?

sund

So in today’s Sunday Scoop, I talk about a few happenings here at home & some new stuff coming out THIS WEEK!  Something really new and different is coming, and I tell ya all about it.

Also, I want to talk about moving for a moment. I forgot to mention this in the video. Well, I have had many questions come up about moving. NO, I am not closing down the SP or my SP store. You aren’t getting rid of me that easily 😉

What will happen is I am just doing a total scrap room overhaul. When we move, I want to start my scrap room out fresh and not have any extra stash items laying around. I am continuing down my LESS IS MORE trail in my crafting.

So that scrap philosophy is one I am trying to apply to my business (and life!) as well. I don’t want to offer tons and tons of just stuff. I want the supplies we do offer to be the best of the best so that SP IMPROVES your scrapping.

Anyway, so that’s it! I am sticking around for a long time and I hope that you can rest easy knowing we aren’t shutting down.

So here’s the rest of the Sunday Scoop:

  1. Hi Sami, Love watching your videos..you are always so cheerful. Just starting to collect copic markers. I love to color with Prisma pencils and OMS, but like the “brighter” look I’ve seen when copics are used. My biggest weakness is salty products. Don’t put a bag of chips or peanuts near me..they might disappear! Otherwise, I do try to eat more natural ingredients. Luckily I don’t crave sweets. Looking forward to the new blog posts this week! Hugs and smiles! Marianne B.

  2. My eating habits are horrible! I hate to cook so any chance to grab drive-thru, delivery or use the microwave is fine by me. lol in fact my hubby and I are arguing RIGHT NOW about dinner. He doesn’t want to cook (b/c he always has to cook)and he doesn’t want to eat out. I just don’t want to cook lol so we are both sitting on the couch “holding out” for the other to finally give in. 🙂
Great blog candy gifts! I just started coloring with the copics. I have one SP stamp and one Greeting Farm stamp. Looking forward to getting many more! 🙂 Have a wonderful, productive week! (((hugs)))
    Christina Z.

  3. Wow~ you have lots of great stuff to give away this week! Can’t wait to see all the flair buttons as they’re released! What a fun way to dress up a card or LO!
We try to eat healthy ~ lots of fresh food. We’ve also pretty much stopped eating any fast food, and when on the rare occasion that we do, it doesn’t taste so great any more. We do go out to eat about once a week, but we try to eat healthy even then. We also don’t drink soda any more ~ more just water and juices. My husband has lost quite a bit of weight just by changing his eating habits. I’ve not been so lucky, but at least I feel better!
Thanks for the chance to win this week!

    1. The flair is just so fun! You are going to love some of our designs. There’s a little for everyone. I love that we can release more theme specific flair.

You are so right about the fast food! There is none we can even stand anymore except McDonalds and that is on a very RARE occasion. I have been known to just stop there and get french fries and not even get anything else! ha ha. I still love their french fries!!

We go out usually up to two times a week. I go out with my mom for lunch, usually at a Mexican restaurant (and it is my junk meal of the week, lots of cheese lol). That day hubby goes out himself and gets some pizza or a sub as his junk meal. Then we go out as a family for dinner one night. I generally choose a healthy option for that meal.

That’s so great you guys gave up the soda. That stuff is so bad for us! I never liked sodas really and I never drink them. Hubby does like some soda and has one very rarely now. Maybe one soda per week. He still loves it, but he is trying to be good. I happen to like sweet tea, but I am trying to limit it & when I make it myself I don’t add much sugar 🙂

  4. I recently found your site and placed my order on$5 Friday. I think you are probably one of my new favorites! Love the shop and the blog! So inspiring and wonderful goodies! Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. Thank you so much, Christine! If you haven’t checked out our Facebook page, you should! The DT has tons of inspiration over there to check out in the photo albums. I’m really glad you found SP 🙂

  5. WOW–great giveaways this week, lots of fun! (I have all the Copics, so please don’t include me in that option). As far as eating goes, we eat very healthy and exercise a LOT. We don’t eat any sort of extreme diet, it is just mainly a lean meat-lots of veggies and fruits. No casseroles, limited pasta dishes.. We do have some treats every now and then, but we limit portions on those. We made this change back in the early 2000s and have been living this way ever since. My husband lost about 100 pounds and is now a competitive cyclist. I lost about 35 pounds and really made a huge improvement in my health. It has become a lifestyle, not something we even think about any more. You have a lot going on–best wishes with all the exciting things happening with your company!

    1. Thanks for letting me know about the Copics!

Your diet sounds lovely!! I am working on getting to that same place. When we do have special treats now, it is usually a healthier alternative (still not healthy lol!) and smaller portion. I love that you say that you don’t think about it anymore. I hope all of our changes become that way. Many of them already are, but others are “work” lol.

I remember you saying that about your hubby and I still think it is super impressive!!

  6. My hubby works from home and he also needs to just get away at times. Laptops and/or tablets make the world of difference. One can get “cabin fever” so glad you are able to “escape”. :-)My eating habits are so BAD! Because of work and lack of time I find that we eat out about twice a week. But, I also try to incorporate a salad as a meal and fresh snacks as opposed to packaged snacks. I tell my hubby if we have to UNWRAP it then it probably not a very healthy snack. hehe. OMG>>>I can’t wait to receive the boxes I ordered. 🙂 I am sure you did not realize how much stuff you had until you started moving things around. 🙂 Thanks for the Sunday Scoop…I like em’!!! 🙂

    1. Diane, that is the perfect way to describe it! I feel trapped at home a bit. I am so relieved just having the laptop now, knowing I can leave at any time.

I totally understand that. It has been a bit of a chore for us to switch over from semi-healthy (no preservatives and healthy meals, but still junk for snacks and eating out) to super healthy (healthy meals from scratch, mostly all healthy snacks, very very little junk snacks, and healthier eating out options). Overall, I think it is worth it. The plus side for me is I do enjoy cooking and baking so that part of things comes easily for me. The hard part for me is the planning so I get all the fresh food but don’t waste it. Some weeks are much better than others lol.

  7. Samantha, I’m soooooooo excited about the scrap booking stamps you guys are going to be offering. I primarily scrapbook vs card making. I love SP stamps but sometimes they can be challenging to use on scrapbooks. I can’t wait to see your flair designs. I’m kind of obsessed with flair right now.

Is the weather nice out where you live? I’m sure it will be great to use your new laptop out and about. Maybe you’ll get doubly inspired!

    1. I knew you would be excited about them! I know you have to scrap those boys 🙂 I know you are going to like some of them coming up!!

I am totally obsessed with flair right now too! Isn’t it just so fun?!

The weather here can be very nice, but unfortunately when it rains, it rains for days straight lol. We are on day #3 now.

But the first day after I bought the laptop, I sat on the patio at Starbucks outside and it was so nice to just be out in the fresh air. I plan on sitting out in the back yard on our swing some of the time too.

  8. Good morning. I find myself looking forward to the Sunday Scoop. I think that you are SUPER sweet and just have such a refreshing personality. Now, about eating habits. I’m horrible with them. Sometimes I do well but I have a weakness for sweets. Lol. Best wishes on your family’s move. Take care!

    1. Aw, thanks Tiffany! I am starting to get used to doing them. At first it was very scary, but not so much now.

My hubby LOVES sweets too! I am more of a salty snack person -chips, popcorn, etc We eat them ALL if we buy them so we just stopped buying them lol.
