The Sunday Scoop 6/2/13

Hey everyone! It is Sunday Scoop time. We just got home a couple of hours ago and haven’t yet unpacked. I couldn’t seem to locate my video camera, but I was too lazy to search through everything yet. I decided to just write this week’s Sunday Scoop for ya.

First, the winner from last week is. . .

The box is sooo cute!!! Hope you have an enjoyable vacation!! Good luck on the your upcoming venture pertaining to the news we have to wait for. šŸ™‚ Thanks for the scoop!!

Congrats, Diane!! You have won the 4 stamp sets from my stash & an Adtech Tape Runner. Please email me at to claim your prize. You have two weeks to claim.

Here’s the scoop:

My hubby had an interview with his first choice of companies to work for and that was the real reason for our vacation.

Well, he got the job!! We are so flipping excited, I still almost can’t believe that it is real!! It is seriously a dream come true. He worked his tail off in school, studied hard, researched hard, and ended up with a 4.0 during grad school and a pretty impressive thesis. I am not surprised a company wanted to snag him up immediately, but with the economy the way it is, we really weren’t sure what to expect.

As people have told us & as we have read, computer/electrical engineers are still in very high demand and boy, they weren’t kidding! His diploma hasn’t even arrived yet and he has a job!! I know we are both incredibly blessed and lucky. All our hard and sacrifices seem to have paid off.

He’s going to roll his eyes because I am writing about how wonderful I think he is. This is a proud wifey moment for me šŸ™‚ I am so happy for him to have his pick of jobs and wind up with a job that he is going to love. He’s really itching to get started working.

Anyway, so the job starts VERY soon, and it is in Champaign, Illinois! We checked out the town last week. I can definitely see us living there long term and so we are moving full steam ahead with life.

This is basically how our week went:

  • Packed and did last minute prep on Monday
  • Arrived on Tuesday
  • Interview on Wednesday, he knew he got the job before he left the office!!
  • Went to a lender and started the mortgage process on Thursday
  • Looked at houses with our new realtor on Friday
  • Visited with all my family in Indianapolis on Saturday
  • Arrived home today (Sunday)Ā

I am one of those people who LOVES to look at houses so I pretty much had an idea of what I wanted in a house. I stalk and so I already had a list of houses picked out to go view. Well we ended up looking at 17 houses in ONE DAY. It was mind-boggling and I am almost overwhelmed at how gorgeous most of them were. We ended up really loving two but are now leaning more towards one (mainly because I love it the best & he knows how much I love it).Ā  Here is a photo of it:

Photo: One of our faves :)

I have a feeling this is where we will call home very soon. *crossing fingers & toes, knocking on wood, wishing upon a star, etc*

It was a great week, but I am totally pooped! I will be getting a good night’s sleep & starting to play catch-up in the morning.Ā  This week coming up, I have a near-full line up on the blog for you. Next Sunday Scoop, I hope to have even more info to share with you!

If you have any questions about our journey, please ask your questions below or check out the Facebook updates I posted during last week.

Anyway, so I also have a giveaway for this week. Simply leave me a comment on this blog post and I will give one random commenter a mystery prize assortment!! Entries/comments are due on Saturday, June 8th at noon EST.

  1. Such an exciting trip!!! He may be rolling his eyes but inside he is beaming with joy! šŸ™‚ I can’t believe you’re able to keep up with all the videos, updates, and tutorials with all of this going on. Great job!!

    1. I totally think you are right. He knows that he totally rocked it.

The blog stays going with LOTS and LOTS of advanced planning and project making šŸ™‚ I am really glad I have a blog helper( that edits and schedules posts) too that keeps me in line šŸ™‚

    1. Thank you! I really really like it & I am kind of already making plans for the home in my head. I am completely sold but I feel like hubby needs a little more convincing.

  2. Congrats on your very exciting news! What an accomplishment for your husband and to you for all the support I am sure you provided during grad school. The house looks amazing. Cannot wait to see more!!

    1. Thank you, Betty! I feel like being a grad school wife is pretty difficult too. I had to put a lot of “becoming an adult” dreams aside for a few years while most of our friends started getting the careers, having the kiddos, buying nice cars, and buying houses. We are kind of just sitting here in the same spot it seemed for SO LONG. I am just so glad to finally be moving forward.

    1. Thank you! It has been quite unreal but on the drive back home, I think it really hit us that we aren’t going to see this place much more before we move.

  3. Oh Sami this is so exciting! We are so happy for you! The house looks amazing. Fingers and toes are crossed for you too. Sending you continued good wishes.
