To prepare for doing Project Life scrapping in 2014, I decided to try my hand at some pocket style scrapbook layouts. I also tried to record my process from start to finish. I get asked to make scrapbooking videos all the time & I feel so strange doing them. I feel like they are always too long, so I decided to do a speed video for you. It ended up only making a 13minute video, but the actual scrap process took me 49 minutes.
My layout photo kind of stinks. I will have to work on that.
Now if you are a Project Lifer, please help me with my terminology here. I’ve used American Craft page protectors & American Crafts owns the Becky Higgins Project Life brand name now. That’s the true Project Life with the R in the circle next to it. But I am using We R Memory Keepers supplies, & We R calls theirs “Albums Made Easy”. And Echo Park calls their pocket scrapbook line “Photo Freedom”. And if you want a PL kit subscription somewhere, they can be called tons of different things -Life Pages, Day in the Life, Pocket Life, etc.
What do YOU call your pocket style scrapbooking?
Since I only used American Craft’s page protectors, I don’t know if I should be calling this a Project Life layout or not! lol. For this one I used a Design D page because the photos on the opposite side are upright 4×6 photos and I wanted to fill both sides. I will work on the back side of it next time 🙂
So terminology aside, this is definitely a pocket style of scrapbooking, unlike the 12×12 traditional layouts. Today I have my first of this style layout to share with you! I feel like it came out pretty well considering it was my first one!
I filmed a process video & this was actually my first one of these type of videos too. Please let me know what you think & if you would like more of this style of video! I hope you like it! Once I got the voice over figured out, it went smoothly. I got really frustrated and annoyed with it at first though,he he!
Since I go into a lot of details in the video, I am not going to write out too many of the details. I tried to list all of the supplies in the shopping list for ya 🙂
I got these 4×4 Instagram photos printed out from Walgreens. In January I will be discussing all my Project Life process details with you once I work out all the kinks on my own first.
I don’t feel like I used a ton of supplies, but my shopping list is a little bit long. I used quite a few SP supplies that made the process super simple. And I just LOVE that cute little 2013 banner! In this video I also get to show you some of the SP Storage Binders & how I have things organized inside those. It is so easy to just grab and go with the SP Storage Binders!
Also, isn’t that Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot AWESOME?! It made the die cutting so easy!! I’m a huge fan.
I couldn’t find the exact pack of the My Mind’s Eye Enamel Dots that I used, but I linked to a pack that contains the same brown color in the pack. It’s just a newer pack & my pack was kind of old.
I also couldn’t find the brown color of the Basic Grey Micro Monogram alphabet stickers. They are a little bit older also.
I hope you enjoyed the video! Again, please let me know what you think of this style of video. If you enjoy it, let me know!
