Guess what?! Today, I have my first 12×12 traditional layout to share of 2014! I can’t believe I am already scrapping 2014. I am still years and years behind because I work on whatever tickles my fancy 🙂 I received lots of winter wonderland type products in my January Scraptastic kit and it was perfect for the layouts I had planned on making of the pups playing in the snow.
This layout is of Bella & Mya playing in the snow. All my pups are so darling when they run around in the snow & play together. They are really loving all the snow we’ve had since we moved to Illinois. They have only seen a tiny bit of snow before this year. And it really is a doggie wonderland for them.
I know some of you are thinking WAIT WHAT?! I thought you were doing Project Life this year?
I am doing Project Life, but I still love my 12×12 scrapping. I plan on having my 12×12 pages right next to my Project Life pages in one album (or 2 or 3, however many albums I end up filling for the year). I plan on using THIS technique to have my 12x12s back to back with my Project Life style layouts as needed. Since I took all these beautiful photos of the dogs, I left a 2 page spread planned between week 1 and week 2. I DO NOT plan on having a separate album for one thing, and a separate album for another thing. To me, it’s all the same life so it all belongs in the same album (and that’s just easier. REMEMBER: Simplicity is key to keeping up with it!)
ABOUT THESE PHOTOS
Now for most photos, I use my iPhone (4s), but for action shots, I always use my digital SLR (It’s an old Olympus). It just captures action shots so much better than my iPhone. The iPhone tries to focus on everything and it can be slow to snap photos. I also did a bit of editing to lighten the photos up and make the snow whiter.
All of the supplies except the “Doggie” letters I used on this layout came from the January Scraptastic Baby It’s Cold Outside Add-on Kit.
Supplies I used from the kit include:
Fancy Pants Timbergrove Title Die Cuts (for the Wonderland part of the title)
Basic Grey Blue & Seafoam Candy Buttons
Maya Road Large Chipboard Snowflakes
Fancy Pants Timbergrove Alphas
Echo Park Keeping Cool Patterned Paper
Echo Park Snowy Day Patterned Paper
The Doggie Letters are Pebbles Country Picnic Corrugated Alphabet Stickers. I stapled these on with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.
To rough up the edges of the patterned papers, I used the Heidi Swapp edge distresser tool. I got this many many years ago on clearance, but other companies offer these types of tools.
To decorate the snowflake chipboard shapes, I used some Copper Smooch Spritz.
And that’s it! I had a ton of fun making this one. I hope that you have a great day! I am going to have another 12×12 layout for you this week 🙂
