It’s Your Birthday Card

Hi everyone!

I didn’t get my Project Life Week 3 layout finished up today so instead of Week 3 linky party, I have a birthday card to share. This is a card I made a while ago, but just never got posted up here.

Most likely, I will have our Linky Party & my Week 3 ready for you tomorrow!

I used some SVGs from Miss Kate Cuttables for this card.

I cut all these SVG files with my Silhouette Cameo. I really thought my Cricut Expression cut pretty well. I was so wrong because my Silhouette Cameo cuts SO.MUCH.BETTER! I can really tell the difference because there are no fuzzies. It took a little bit to get used to the settings. I found that the automatic “cardstock” setting just doesn’t cut deep enough for my thicker cardstock (I use the good stuff like Stampin’ UP, Bazzill, American Crafts, Papertrey Ink, and Core’dinations.).

The cupcake SVG can be found at the link below.  The tag & layer shape are from the Tags & Backgrounds set and it can be found at the link below.  The banner is also from that set.

The label shape was cut out from in patterned paper from the Bundle of Joy Girl collection. Then the mat layer was just cut in some bright pink cardstock.

On the banner shape, I stamped the “It’s your birthday!” sentiment that is from the Birthday Family stamp set from the Gill Roberts collection. Our clear stamps are awesome because you can curve them like this!

I popped the banner up on foam dots for some extra dimension. Speaking of dimension, I LOVE how the Miss Kate SVG’s layer up. The ones with many colors like this cupcake just turn out so cute & have some great dimension to them just from all the layering.

For the background, I decided the plain aqua cardstock was too boring so I did some embossing. I used a dots embossing folder on another piece of aqua. Then I inked around the edges with coordinating ink and a sponge dauber.

This finished card is 4.5inches square.

  1. Cute card! It’s fun to see a card made with your Silhouette. I love mine. I got it almost a year ago, and find it is saving me so much money on dies! Did you know that you can get free cutfiles every day at Miss Kate Cuttables? I can’t wait to check her site each day to see the new freebie….and then buy others occasionally to show my appreciation.
